Summer youth programs in Kaunakakai start this week

Registration deadline is today for the Molokai Learn to Swim Program which starts today, June 14, and runs through July 15 for youth ages 3 and up. Space is limited so contact Mike Mangca at 553-5819 or call the Parks Recreation Office at 553-4141.

For basketball, registration closes Friday, June 18, for the Molokai Youth Basketball Program. This program is for boys and girls ages 8 and 9. Registration forms can be picked up at the Kaunakakai Gym recreation office or at selected school offices. For more information call Mike Mangca or the Parks Recreation Office.

Molokai High School fourth quarter honors

With the end of the school year comes the announcement of Molokai High School’s honors list.

The principal’s honors list is made up of students who have earned Grade Point Averages of 4.0 or above while enrolled in six or more courses, four or more of which are solid courses.

For the fourth quarter of the 2009-10 school year, Brittanie-Rae Nerveza was the only ninth grade student to make the list. In grade 10 Charisse Manley and Tiffany Tanielu were on the principal’s honors list.

For 11th grade, Eric Gilliland, Kawena Puhi, Crystalene Antonio, Francine Feig, Kesha-Leah Reyes and Tracilyn Sagario made the list. Seniors earning this highest honor were Rebecca Carpenter, Taisha Kawamae, Jesse Lite, Kerianne Mokuau, Lori-Lynn Pedro-Kalua and Kealohapauole Will.

The honor roll is made up of students with GPA’s of 3.5 to 4.0. For the fourth quarter of the 2009-10 school year they are:

In Grade 10: Ceejay Ilaban, Kate Sandy Espejo, Kayla Matson, Jessica Sanchez, Chelsea Simon, Haley Simon, Emily Spires, Dallin Tancayo, Petrisha Alvarez, Brianna Tangonan and Rae-Lynn Puailihau.

Grade 11: Chelsea Sakamoto, Abbigale Adolpho, Marejke Ah Loy, Kammy Lee Manintin, Denichel Ruiz, Kailana Ritte-Camara, Molly Mackay-Smith, Brandi Morris, William Place, Cristina-Lynn Alcon.
